Joseph A. Baron Jr.

JOSEPH A. BARON, JR. M.D. F.A.C.S. Dr. Joseph A. Baron, Jr., died May 2, 2012 at Treasure Coast Hospice of Stuart. He was born in Fairhaven, Mass, and lived in Stuart coming from Hutchinson Island. He enlisted in the military during the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded a Purple Heart, The Presidential Citation, Korean War Medal & Ribbon, United Nations & National Defense Citation & ribbon. He attended Boston College where he was a Dean's list student, earning him early acceptance to Boston University School of Medicine. He graduated with his doctorate in 1961 and went into practice in Framhingham, MA. He was President of the Medical Staff at Metrowest Medical Center and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Boston Surgical Society, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and A Diplomat of The American Board of Urology Following his retirement, he and his wife, Mary moved to Hutchinson Island for 10 years. Then purchased a home adjacent to the St. Lucie River. Dr Baron's beautification of his yard and garden won him the "Stuart in Bloom" award from the Garden Club of Stuart. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and became Grand Knight of Council 18048, Jensen Beach, Fl. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Shea) Baron. Survivors include his cousin Regina A. Boisclair, brother-in- law John Shea (Diane), sister- in-law Jean Shea and Aunty Jo. He leaves a dear neighbor and friend Barbara Wishart; lifelong friends Joe & Jean McMcall, Kathy Minnuchi, special friends Pat & Terry Murphy and his beloved pets, Panda, Dee-Dee and Chloe.
