I MET HERBIE SOME 30 YEARS AGO THROUGH MY HUSBAND, PAT LLOYD. THERE WAS A GROUP OF US WHO WOULD GET TOGETHER AND HERBIE WAS IN THAT GROUP. HE WAS ALWAYS SO MUCH FUN. I LOVED HIS SENSE O HUMOR. ONE TIME ALL OF US WENT DOWN TO LONGBEACH , AND THERE WAS CUTIE HERBIE DRESSED IN HIS PJ'S TELLING PEOPLE THE AVAILABLE ROOMS TO SLEEP IN. HERB WAS VERY HANDSOME, AS THE GIRLS WOULD SAY--ALWAYS DRESSED NICELY. ONE TIME I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS BREAKING IN OUR FRONT DOOR. WHO DID I CALL? NOT THE POLICE, BUT HERBIE! OF COURSE HE TOLD ME, "NONI, CALL THE COPS," AND THEN HE CAME OVER AND STAYED WITH ME UNTIL PAT CAME HOME. HERBIE LOVED THE ELECTIONS. HE AND PAT WOULD GET TOGETHER AND CUSS, AND DISCUSS THE CANIDATES. HE WOULD BE VERY EXCITED ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW, AND I KNOW UP IN HEAVEN HE IS TALKING TO SOMEONE ABOUT HOW STRANGE OUR ELECTION SYSTEM IS. THE LAST FEW YEARS WE HAVE NOT SEEN HERBIE AS MUCH, BUT WE DID CALL HIM ON HIS 6OTH BIRTHDAY AND TALKED A LONG TIME. I WILL TREASURE THAT CALL. AS HIS UNCLE SAID AT THE MASS THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH OUTSTANDING ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE HERBIE. WE HAVE ALL LOST A VERY SPECIAL PERSON. TO HIS BROTHERS: DAVID, JAMES, GARY, AND ALL THE OTHER REALATIVES OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO YOU. NONI AND PAT LLOYD

I was so sad to hear that a great friend and co-worker had passed away. Herb and I were good buddies at Weyco and worked out of the same office at the Reman Dept.of Northwest Hardwoods. I lost contact with Herb when they closed that operation down. We used to compare vacations when he went to Hawaii and I went to Reno. What fun! My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

I worked with Herb at NW Hardwood. He worked with my mother Marcella Steveson for years. He always greeted you with a smile. He will be missed!

I first met Herb when I graduated from college in 1970. We used to hang out at the Triangle Tavern and then moved to the Masthead when it opened. We became quite good friends during that time.I too remember that big car that he drove ( thought it was blue though.) I would keep him company when he would check ID at the door on weekends and share his rueben sandwich which he always ordered. Our paths diverged in 1972 and I lost touch with him, but I have thought of him often over the years. He was a geniunely decent guy and a true gentleman to the core. I'm sorry I was unable to chat with the family(Gary and my husband are classmates)after the service. Be assured that all who knew Herb loved him for the special person he was.

I met Herb when he joined us in Industrial Engineering Dept. at Weyerhaeuser. We worked together and also spent Friday evenings at Masthead. He had been a good family friend, very helpful and easy going. Damyanti and I will miss him for losing such a good friend.

Herb was a special friend and co worker. When I interviewed for a job in June of 1974 with Pamo and Herb, he made me feel very comfortable and took me to lunch at the Masthead. A place where we were to spend a lot of Friday or Saturday nights with Herbie tending bar.
I can still see him in that "land yacht" Olds or Buick he drove for so many years. I think it was green with a black vinyl top. Also he always had his hard hat liner smaller than his head so that it perched on the top of his head and wouldn't mess up his hair.
I never thought my Weyco career would bring me to Brainerd where Herbs dad was born. So in a way I was still near him these last 6 years (returning home this year).
Herb was a class guy and a great support to me. A great friend that I will miss dearly. Sleep peacefully my friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Herb in the Engineering Office at Weyerhaeuser for 10 years and continued to run into him now and then over the years. What a great guy. . . always had a smile on his face. Rest well, Herb. We'll all miss you.

Herb was one of the first people we met in Longview in 1974. He became a good friend and co-worker. Fond memories from the I.E. trailer at Weyerhaeuser and the Masthead as well as social events.
Our sympathies to his family and friends...he will be missed.

To Herbie's brothers: I'm so very sorry for your loss. As you know Herbie was a dear friend, a playmate, and a good buddy to me while we were growing up together on 25th. I'm so happy to have been able to see him once again and Irene
(his mother) before she passed away. I will always remember the family and all the fun we all had as kids.

Herbert was such a wonderful guy. We went all the way thru St Rose school together. I ran into him once after that when we were 22. I always hoped I would get to see him again since I moved away a few months later. I am so sorry for you loss.
