Arnold "Arnie" Brower
Treasure Island, FL - Arnold "Arnie" Brower, 91 passed away with quiet dignity surrounded by his family in St. Petersburg, Florida on July 11th 2012 following a long battle against pulmonary fibrosis. Loving husband, father, and friend, he leaves the world a lessor place.
Born in Hyde Park, New York to Ed and Isabel Brower, Arnie developed a love for nature and outdoor activities. He enjoyed racing his iceboat on the Hudson River, fishing, hunting, boating, and baseball.
A decorated WWII pilot, Arnie flew B-17s over Europe and went on to spend 23 years in the US Air Force. retiring in 1965. During his military career, he accumulated more than 4,000 flying hours in 12 different aircraft. His personal experiences in WWII can be seen on "Witness to War".
He moved his family one more time to Spencer, Massachusetts and was subsequently employed by David Clark Company in Worcester, MA for 18 years assisting in the development of high altitude pressure suits used by the Air Force and NASA space suits used by the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts.
After retirement from David Clark in 1983, he traveled extensively with friends and family, eventually settling in Treasure Island, Florida.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Helen; four children, Mary Bailey of Wellington, FL, A. Michael Brower of Seaford, VA, Teresa Lindgren of Spencer, MA, and Suzanne Webb of Cummings, GA, and extended family of nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. His ashes will be interred at Bushnell National Cemetery, Florida, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association.

Our deepest sympathy to Arnie's family...and sorry for the delay as we just heard. We always admired his strong yet gentle ways... he was a true gentleman who loved his family.
