Catherine Fuller Obituary

Catherine Rose Fuller, 56, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 13, 2010.

Cathy was born on December 19, 1953, in Worcester, to Joseph and Mary (Harris) Driscoll. She graduated from the Bancroft School in Worcester and received her B.A. from Syracuse University. After college, she lived in Madrid, Spain, for several years studying Spanish literature. She married the renowned jazz trombonist and composer, Curtis Fuller, in July of 1980. Cathy and Curtis spent many enjoyable years travelling as he performed at international jazz concerts and appeared as a headliner in music capitals of the world. The Fullers resided in New York City for over a decade where Cathy held key positions at Republic National Bank. In 1984, Cathy moved to Millbury, with her family, where she lived until her death.

In the Worcester and Boston areas, Cathy worked at Shawmut Bank and at Peoples Bank. She then transferred to the education field. She spent several years working in the foreign languages department at Assumption College, where she enjoyed translating French and Spanish documents for the faculty. Cathy later joined the Worcester Public Schools and devoted herself to helping ELL students attain their college dreams. She graciously shared her love of language and learning with students and faculty alike.

Cathy was an active member and a Eucharistic Minister at St Mark's Church. She enjoyed reading, writing, travel, and was passionate about the arts.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Curtis Fuller, and her children, Paul, Mary, and Anthony Fuller. In addition, she leaves behind her sisters, Mary, Elisabeth, Eileen, Jane and Gabriel; and her brothers, Joseph, Daniel, and Timothy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and her father, Joseph Driscoll. She is also survived by her beloved Aunt, Kathy Corey and the extended Corey family, as well as her dear cousin, Carol Cooney. She is predeceased by her mother, Mary (Harris) Driscoll and a brother, Michael Driscoll.

Her funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 18th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 356 Boston Rd. in Sutton. Burial will be in private in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17th in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mark's Twin (Haitian Student Program and Nursing Home), 356 Boston, Rd., Sutton, MA, 01590.

Dear Tim and family.
It seems so long ago that Mary and I hung out and my sisters hung with hers. I spent many a night at the Driscoll home growing up. Cathy was always fun loving and the "big sister". Please accept my sincere sympathy.

Dear Curtis, Paul, Mary, Anthony, and Family,
Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of my dear friend Cathy. We at the New Citizens Center (NCC) enjoyed working with her briefly in 2008, although we had known her earlier. Our last quality time together was a luncheon in August just before school opened. She loved her God, her family, and her work, and we were so saddened by her illness. It is my hope and prayer that you share her faith and deep strength during these difficult days. I am sorry to say that I will be unable to attend the calling hours today or the funeral tomorrow due to previous commitments taking me out of town. Please rest assured that you are in my thoughts and prayers, as you have been since we first heard that Cathy was at Rose Monahan. May God be with you, and may His strength be yours as it was hers. Not only can we "do all things through Him who strengthens" us, but His strength is made perfect in our times of weakness (I Corinthians 12:9).
