Daniel Holohan Obituary

Daniel F. Holohan, 89

Worcester - Daniel F. Holohan, 89, of Worcester passed away Monday, July 25th at home surrounded by his beloved family. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Barbara Fay (Ryan) Holohan; a son, Daniel M. Holohan of Worcester and a daughter, Donna L. Holohan of North Chelmsford.

Dan was born in Worcester and graduated from St. Peter's High School. Six months later he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Philippine Islands as the war was coming to a close. Upon discharge from the service he enrolled at Georgetown University and graduated in 1951.

He was predeceased by his father, Daniel F. Holohan, his mother, Alexina (Dionne) Holohan and his beloved pet dog "Sugar". Dan worked for Nabisco for 34 years as a sales representative, retiring in 1986. He was a member and co-founder of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and a member of the Georgetown University Alumni Association. He was an avid fan of all New England sports teams especially the New England Patriots and the Red Sox. He also enjoyed going to the casinos even though he seldom won. He made sure his family had a Cape Cod summer vacation each year and after retiring he and Fay spent the winter months on Anna Maria Island, FL.

Dan relished the time he spent nurturing his flower gardens and his "sweet 100's" tomato plants which he gladly shared with neighbors and friends.

His funeral is Saturday, July 30th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Entombment in St. John's Cemetery will be at a later date. Calling hours are Friday, July 29th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Church Food Pantry, 931 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01610 or to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.

From what I've learned of Mr.Holohan, he was a wonderful husband, father, provider, friend...and a loyal Catholic.

When his yard was all right.... than all was right in the world....and I can attest to the fact that he grew tasty tomatoes!

Dan and Sugar are are basking in the Light of God right now....walking along an endless shoreline.
May His Peace be in you all.
