David Minto Obituary

David G. Minto, 61, of Chelsea ME died Wed. June 3 at the VA Hospital in W. Roxbury after an illness. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Verdini of Northbridge and David Minto of Blackstone; a step-sister, Paulette Minto of Scotland; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and several grandchildren. Born in Bridge of Alien, Scotland on Jan. 10, 1948 he was the son of late David Minto of Edinburgh, Scotland, and the late Eliza (Todd) Minto of Uxbridge, MA.

Mr. Minto immigrated to the United States as a young boy, and lived in Uxbridge, MA for many years before settling in Maine. He worked at Pratt and Whitney Co. for several years. He was a three tour Vietnam Veteran, serving as a Sergeant with the 82nd Airborne, and a recipient of the Bronze Star. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed fishing. He greatly enjoyed music, and loved to play guitar.

Mr. Minto was predeceased by his sisters, Darlene Larson in 1990, and Eliza T. Valliere in 2008.

His funeral service with Military Honors will be held Thurs. June 11 at 9:45 in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne. There are no calling hours. Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville is directing arrangements.
