Edward Jackman Obituary
Leicester - Edward Earl Jackman passed away suddenly on January 8th in his home in Alanya Turkey after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Southborough, Massachusetts. Throughout his life Ed was known as mischievous but good hearted. He certainly got into plenty of trouble growing up as a child on the Jackman farm, often recruiting his siblings into trouble along with him. He enlisted in the Army in 1964, was deployed to Germany, and spent several years in the active Army. He returned home just as mischievous as he was when he left. His love for fast cars and beautiful women earned him many speeding tickets and several wives.
Ed had grown up a huge fan of Elvis Presley and kept his hair to look like 'the King' through all these years. He was also a huge fan of country music and enjoyed sipping a glass of whiskey or a cold beer listening to Alan Jackson and George Strait. Ed was an excellent cook, loved to make a big Sunday breakfast, especially making his own home fries that his kids always loved. He also loved to grill and always served up big steaks from Fairway Beef in Worcester.
Ed was a well known car salesman in Central Massachusetts for over 40 years. He worked at many dealerships and eventually opened his own dealership, Jackman Auto Sales in Auburn. After retirement, Ed spent many years traveling to the Mediterranean coast in Alanya, Turkey where he fell in love with the people, the culture and the way of life. He bought a home in Alanya and eventually moved there full time. He loved sitting on Kleopatra Beach enjoying the views and having a few drinks with both his local friends as well as new friends visiting Alanya from far away.
Ed returned to the U.S. every summer and always made sure he spent time in his second favorite place: the family cabin in Silver Lake, New Hampshire. His days at the cabin were spent with family and friends, cooking on the grill, playing many games of pitch or cribbage, enjoying a few drinks by the campfire, or taking a dip in beautiful Silver Lake.
Big Ed He is survived by his three children: Edward Jackman and his wife Pamela of Flagstaff, Arizona; Keri Jackman and her fiance Daniel Fitzpatrick of Douglas Massachusetts;, Todd Jackman and his wife Melissa of Uxbridge Massachusetts. He was also a loving grandfather to five grandchildren: Lucas, Stephen, Mya, Connor, and Callie Jackman. He is also survived by his siblings: Colonel(ret) Bill Jackman of Arlington, Virginia,; Patricia Altomare of Seabrook, New Hampshire;, Laraine Cormack of Conway, New Hampshire; and, Diane Prata of Framingham, Massachusetts. He is predeceased by his parents Carlton and Stella (Oles) Jackman, his brother David Jackman, sister Susan Penfield, and recently his brother Richard Jackman.
Arrangements will be held privately by the family.
