Joseph Enos Obituary

Joseph A. Enos 95

Worcester - Joseph A. Enos, 95, of Worcester, MA passed away on February 17, 2016, the day of his birth, with the family he loved gathered at his side.

Joseph was born in Waterbury Connecticut, a son of Trucato and Maria (Dos Santos) Enos. He grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island, entered the U.S. Army during World War II serving his country proudly as a Medic in the Pacific administering aid to those wounded after battles. Upon the end of his enlistment, Joe's superiors offered him a full scholarship to medical school to become an army surgeon. Longing for his family and his responsibility to them, Joe chose instead to return home to Rhode Island. Joe worked fulltime at The New England Butt Company, where he met his future bride, Viola. At the same time, he also attended Bryant College fulltime in the evenings to earn his business degree.

Joseph worked in the foundry business all his life including foundries in both RI and MA, ending his career as Director of Operations at the Taylor & Fenn Company in Windsor Locks, CT. Joseph notably, designed, fabricated and constructed the columns of the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

He is survived by the "Love of his Life" and devoted wife of 67 years, Viola I. (Roberge) Enos; his two daughters, Patricia C. Bianchi and her husband Carter of Uxbridge, MA, Joyce R. Armstrong and her husband Michael of Vernon CT; a sister, Eva LaBelle of Coventry RI; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Two brothers, Anthony and Ernest Enos and two sisters, Mary Torres and Lena Almeida all predeceased him.

Joe was a member and Past President of the Cranston Portuguese Club of RI and the Connecticut Chapter of the Foundrymen's Society of CT. He was also a member of the Auburn Elks and the Auburn Sportsman Club. He was an enthusiastic Patriots and Red Sox fan and especially followed the UConn Women's Basketball program.

Joe and Vi lived many years in Auburn, MA, Southington, CT, finally retiring to Newport Richey, FL for 20 years before returning to Worcester. They enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends. Joe truly believed that his family was the most important aspect of his life; their wellbeing came first no matter what. He was the backbone of his family and remained devoted to them always. His unwavering faith kept him grounded and helped him through life's challenges. Joe's passing leaves a hole in our hearts but his loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.

Joe's funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 26 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Notre Dame du Lac, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, MA. Burial, with Military honors, will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon, MA. There are no calling hours. No flowers please. Instead, memorial remembrances in his name can be made to Notre Dame Hospice, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605. To my father. How does a daughter sum up her life? I owe everything I am, everything I have, to you. You taught me how to be strong and have a responsible work ethic. Be a leader and not a follower you told me over and over and now i have passed that torch on to my 2 children who in turn will pass it on to theirs. So much strength right until the end. I pray you will now relax and enjoy what you have worked so hard all your life for. The eternal reward is yours now. Hope you enjoy yourself!
All my love from a grateful daughter to her deserving dad.
