Lisa Brooks Obituary

Lisa J. Brooks, 64

AUBURN - Lisa (Hagberg) Brooks, 64, of Auburn Massachusetts passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester MA, after a short battle with cancer.

Lisa was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School. She was predeceased by her parents Carl and Shirley (Wilson) Hagberg of Auburn and her husband and soulmate Elia Mottola of Freehold, New Jersey. She leaves her son Keith Brooks and his family of Las Vegas NV, her daughter Kirsten Heffernan of Everett MA, her sister Judy and her family of Porter ME, her brother Cully of Worcester and her brother Rick, who oversaw her care while she lived at Brookdale Assisted Living of Eddy Pond, and his family of Auburn.

Lisa lived for many years in New Jersey with Elia prior to his death. She resided at the Brookdale assisted living for the past four years in Auburn.

Lisa loved her life, her family and everyone who helped care for her. She loved dogs (having trained greyhounds for many years), playing Bingo, and listening to live music. She had an amazing ability to know everyone by name and greeting them daily with a happy smile and sincere warmth. Life was not always easy for Lisa after suffering from a severe head injury 34 years ago, but her positive attitude carried her through. Lisa recently thanked God for her happy life. Those who knew her loved her.

In honoring and celebrating her life, Lisa would be delighted if everyone would do a good deed for those in need…

Lisa was my mother's table-mate for daily meals at Brookdale Eddy Pond East. I joined my Mom (and Lisa) a good dozen times or so for Sunday dinner during my weekly visits, and I had a few nice conversations with her as we ate. Very nice woman, and glad my Mom shared the table with her. I'd hear about Lisa often from my mother when I called during the week. Sorry for her loss (and my Mom will miss her too). I myself graduated Auburn High in '77 in the same class as Carl ("Cully").
