Michael Jette Obituary
SPENCER - Michael J. Jette, 41, of Spencer passedaway surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Marborough Hills Nursing Home after a long struggle with addiction. Michael leaves his parents; Anne Marie (Monette) & Ronald "John" Jette Jr. of Spencer; his sister Carolyn Jette and her long time boyfriend Jonathan Stevens & two nieces, Bethany & Julianne Linstedt of Millbury. He leaves his paternal grandmother, Janet (Gauthier) Jette & his maternal stepgrandmother, Lorraine (Dumais) Monette, aunts, uncles & cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Ronald Jette Sr. & his maternal grandparents, Richard & Claire (Ducharme) Monette.
Michael was a graduate of David Prouty High School & UMASS Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He started his own landscaping business that was very successful immediately because of his work ethic & great personality.
Loosing his business to addiction, he later worked for Monette Landscape & Construction until his disease got the best of him again. Michael loved being an uncle to his two nieces, enjoying the time they had together. He had a heart of gold. He loved to play cribbage & was an avid Boston Red Socks fan. Michael spent the last four months at Marlborough Hills Nursing Home where he touched the lives of everyone, from residents, to visitors & staff. He finally took responsibility for his choices surrounding his addiction & tried to tell his story to help others there. We want to extend our sincere thanks & gratitude to the caring staff at Marlborough Hills that showed compassion & love to Michael & his family while he was a patient there.
Michael's funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a funeral Mass @ 11 a.m in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Calling hours will precede the service on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. In lieu of flowers, to honor Michael's memory you may donate to: Learn 2 Cope, 4 Court St., Suite 110, Taunton, MA 02780.

After nearly thirty years, Mike still stands out in my mind as one of the very best kids I ever had of the three thousand or so I taught while working in the Spencer schools. A kind, gentle, polite, enthusiastic young lad-----a teacher's ideal student. I never forgot him for the gentleman he was, and as one who had been clearly been raised right.

I had to say goodbye to my best friend whom I grew up with today. Mike was a great friend. The best you could ever ask for. Even during his struggles he would check in with me and ask how things were going for ME. Mike's addiction took alot from him. It took alot from us. Alot of memories that still needed to be made. The one thing Mike always had that could never be taken was his heart. Mike never lost his heart. Rest in peace Mike. Till we meet again. You may not be here right now, but you're not gone. Not ever.

Dearest Anne, Ronnie, and Carolyn.Our hearts are broken to learn of Michael's passing. We had the pleasure of meeting Michael as a young man in his 20's who had so much love, life, talent, and potential. Unfortunately, everyone's journey is different and sometimes life takes people on detours and they can't find the straight and narrow path no matter how hard they try.and he tried. His road was paved with good intentions but the black top forced him down an unpredictable and bumpy curve. But, if Michael's destination will help just one person return to the right road, his journey back home was not lost in vain. Take comfort in knowing Michael is on the stairway to heaven now.
No one could have asked for such dedicated parents or a faithful sister to stand by their son and brother as he faced life's challenges. Annie and Ron, and Carolyn, you are the best so stand proud knowing you were there for your son and brother during the darkest of times. Also remember all the good times you shared together as a family. See all the good you've done and all the blessings you've given.
LIFE IS NOT PERFECT..it shouldn't be sugar-coated. The Greek play writer, Sophocles, stated: Children are the anchors that hold a mother to life. Annie, as a mother, you faced a challenging crisis and never gave up on your only son as you faced the best of times and the worst of times. I'm so proud and lucky to call you my friend. It is so courageous of you and your family to address Michael's struggles in order to bring awareness of how addiction can destroy so many lives since it is a reality.
Our love, prayers, and thoughts from across the miles are sent to you and your extended family. It saddens us that we can't be there with you. As a dedicated Red Sox fan, Michael may have struck out in his own personal ball game but in the end, he hit a homerun by helping others. We are all glad to have had him on our team, even for a short time. Rest in peace our dear Michael. You will be missed by so many. May His Memory Be Eternal.
