Richard Quist Obituary

Richard W. Quist Sr., 78, of 72 Lakeside Dr., died Friday, Dec. 8th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester.

His wife of 49 years, Pauline K. (Gribouski) Quist, predeceased him in July 2002. He leaves two sons, Richard W. Quist Jr. and Paul V. Quist both of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Sonja A. Quist of Shrewsbury and Tracy J. wife of Joseph Pauk of Oxford; a granddaughter, Brittany Pauk of Oxford; four sisters, Meris Connors and Daryl Hebert both of West Boylston, Suzanne wife of Donald Pierson of Southbridge and Pamela Williams of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Walter G. and Virginia H.P. (Peterson) Quist.

Mr. Quist was a computer technician for many years at Fenwal Corp. in Ashland, retiring in 1993. He was an Army paratrooper and accomplished 14 jumps in 1946 & 1947. While attending Shrewsbury High School he was an outstanding athlete, nicknamed Gunder. He was an avid golfer and sports fan who especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12th in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
