Robert Osimo Obituary

Robert A. Osimo, 68

SOUTHBRIDGE - Robert A. "Bob" Osimo, 68, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at UMass Memorial Medical Center/University Campus, with his loving family by his side.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Diane B. (Racicot) Osimo. They were married August 10, 1969. He is also survived by his sons Anthony "Tony" Osimo of Uxbridge, and Jonathan and his wife Kerri Osimo of Sturbridge, and 5 adoring grandchildren Adon, Robert, Elayna "Laynie", Marissa, and Frank, a brother Dennis Osimo of Falmouth, MA, many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Margo J. (Partlow) Osimo (2013), and twin grandchildren Jack and Emily Osimo.

Bob was born in Southbridge, July 6, 1948, son of the late Anthony and Ruth (Donais) Osimo. He graduated from Cole Trade High School Class of 1966. He was a US Army veteran, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam, and was the recipient of receiving the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the DAV, and the American Legion, and was an avid golfer at Heritage Country Club. He worked for National Grid (formerly Mass Electric) for over 44 years, retiring about 5 years ago.

He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, walking on the beach, and trips to the casino, but most of all was a loving husband, father, grandfather, who loved spending time with his family. He always attended his children's and grandchildren's important events, and many years ago he coached hockey and baseball for his children. Bob had an infectious smile, and would always be the first to help anyone in need.

Bob's calling hours will be Monday, January 9, 2017, from 4-7PM, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550. Burial will be private.

Diane, words cannot begin to explain what a good person, friend and mentor "Ozzie" was to myself and countless others who he taught how to be a good and safe lineman! We are all better for having been trained by him. We especially missed his wit and humor and oh, that smile. I'm sorry for you and your family's loss and also for ours.
With my deepest condolences.

When I think back to the days of growing up and playing in the Dennison Hill neighborhood, Mr Osimo is always a part of those happy memories. Mr Osimo would think nothing of stopping the lawnmower to kick the ball around with Tony, Jonathan and all the neighborhood kids who always ended up on the Osimo's front lawn. He always made us feel welcome with his genuine smile, infectious laugh and most importantly, the gift of his time. Mrs Osimo, Tony and Jonathan, i know your hearts are hurting, but I hope you can find peace and comfort in knowing he will forever be your angel and always by your side.
