Robyn Leo Obituary

Robyn C. Leo

Pomfret, CT - Robyn C. Leo, 64, of Holmes Rd., died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in Brigham & Women's Hospital. Born in Webster, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Pelletier) Mikolajczak.

After completing her BSN at Worcester State College in 1982, Robyn completed her MS in Maternal Child Nursing at University of Connecticut in 1984. Shifting from clinical work to education, Robyn taught as a tenured nursing professor for over 25 years and past department chairperson at Worcester State University. She was celebrated for her creative teaching approach and commitment to diversity.

To family and friends, Robyn was sociable, thoughtful, and creative. She was an active member of the Quiet Corner Garden Club and a passionate Osprey Steward for the CT Audubon society. She loved the ocean, cooking, singing, scrapbooking and crafting. She knew how to bring people together and was a board member of the New England chapter of Families with Children from China for many years. Robyn made sepia tones look like technicolor (she loved The Wizard of Oz) and now our lives are less colorful.

Robyn is survived by her daughters Dr. Hannah Pei Leo and her partner Dr. Kevin Guzman of San Francisco, CA, and Hallie Lin Leo of Pomfret, CT; her brother, James J. Mikolajczak and his wife Dr. Leslie Harrold of Northboro, MA; her sister, Patrice E. Bernier of Thompson, CT; several nieces & nephews, and her beloved meezer Tito.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robyn's family from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 in the Valade Funeral Home & Crematory, 23 Main Street, North Grosvenordale. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday June 10, 2021 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main St. Webster, MA. Burial will be private. I ve lost my dearest friend of 25 years. My heart is broken for those of us left behind without your beautiful presence. Hannah and Hallie , I love you dearly. There was not a day that went by that we did not speak to each other about our children. I know how proud she was of you both and now she is your guardian angel. I miss you my dear Robyn.

Robyn and I started teaching together at WSU many years ago. We shared a tiny office and she would answer my phone every afternoon when it would ring at 3:15. Robyn would reassure my son that I had left work and should be arriving home soon. I can still hear her voice saying, "Yes Tyler, your mom is on her way home."

I am so sorry for your loss. Robyn was a passionate woman about so many things.

Reading Robyn's achievements, it doesn't surprise me one bit that she chose a field where she helps and educates others. Such a beautiful person ! I hope her family will accept heartfelt condolences from someone from her old neighborhood. Rest in peace dear girl.
