Roderic Cluett Obituary

Roderic W. Cluett, 75.

AUBURN - Roderic Wayne "R.O.D." Cluett, 75, passed August 18, 2015, returning to his beloved wife Marsha (Gosselin) Cluett who passed April 29, 2000, who he loved so dearly and missed every day. Rod will be missed by his 3 children; Wayne A. Cluett, his wife Jennifer A. (O'Neil), their children, Michaela, Connor, and Casey, of Charlton; Timothy S. Cluett and his son Aaron of Millbury; Lisa M. Petrone, her husband Raymond, their children Ryan and Nicole of Cherry Valley; his sister Marge Brady, and her husband Skip, of Willards, MD. He was predeceased by another sister, Wenda (Cluett) Lee. Mr. Cluett was born February 12, 1940 in North Brookfield, the son of the late Arthur H. Cluett and Therese M. (Bailey). He graduated from North Miami (FL) High School and subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam as an Airman 1C Radio technician. Following his military service he returned home and met the love of his life, Marsha Gosselin from South Grafton, who he soon married and began raising a family with. Rod was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation for 33 years, mostly as a manufacturing supervisor, retiring in 1999. While living in Westminster he was a firefighter/EMT with the Westminster Fire Department. He also served several years with the Grafton Fire Department at Station 3. Rod was former President of the Westminster Little League and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus in Gardner. Rod and his family moved to Millbury in 1984 where as a proud grandfather he supported his grandchildren in all of their accomplishments and endeavors. He and his wife also purchased and operated Cross Roads Family Restaurant in Shrewsbury before he and Marsha moved to Auburn. While living in Auburn he worked part time at IBA for 15 years until fully retiring due to health issues in February of 2015. He was a lifetime member of the Westminster and Millbury VFW. Rod's personal enjoyments included traveling, trips to his favorite casinos, following the Red Sox and Patriots, and visiting his close friends Cal and Dottie in Florida; finally, Rod was an avid John Wayne aficionado. His family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Auburn Fire/Rescue and Police for their great care to him during his time of need. The family suggests you remember Rod with memorial donations to: The Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston MA 02215 in lieu of flowers.

Wayne and Jen: We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of heartache. We recently suffered a loss and have found that all the love and prayers from everyone were comforting...they surround you like a blanket. Remembering the good times and what things made you laugh when they were still here on earth has helped me through this first stage of grief. We hope that you will also find peace as well. God Bless

Papa, you taught me how to play backgammon. You took me to Foxwoods to see the Native American museum because somehow you knew I liked History and learning about our past. Thank you for loving me like a grandfather when I didn't have one. I will be forever grateful.
