Stephanie Bird Obituary

Stephanie Rose Jacobson Bird passed away unexpectedly, March 30, 2009, after emergency surgery, in Paris, France, while doing what she loved, traveling with her friends in the Utah Shakespearean Festival tour.

Stephanie was born June 6, 1951 in Worcester, to Louise Pauline Jensen and Edward James Jacobson Sr. Stephanie graduated from Worcester South High School in 1969 as Valedictorian She married David Reed Bird August 11, 1972 in the Manti Temple. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from BYU in 1973. She worked as a freelance proofreader and editor. She served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also served alongside her husband in many professional organizations. She was an accomplished and creative cook and recently completed her second neighborhood cookbook. Stephanie's many travels around the world to England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands were a great joy in her life. She also loved to read and devoured books daily, a trait she passed to her children. Family was the most important thing in Stephanie's life and she created and sustained numerous family traditions. Her Christmas celebrations were magical and unequaled. She regularly gathered friends, family and strangers to feed and nurture them. She was a wonderful mother and the perfect grandmother. Stephanie was a loyal and true friend. Those in her Lunch Bunch, dinner group, wards and neighborhoods can attest to her generous nature and kindness. She accomplished all of these things and more while suffering for over 20 years with rheumatoid arthritis. Her accomplishments are even more amazing in light of the fact that she was affected every day by this crippling disease.

Stephanie is survived by her husband, David; their four children: Abigail (Quang), Garrett (Mindy), Weston and Alexis; adored by her five grandchildren: Quaylin, Arden, Gabrielle, Ethan, and Rykker; mother, Louise Pauline Jensen Jacobson; siblings Edward James Jacobson Jr., Diane Evelyn Danielson and Donna Louise Miller. Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 11th.
