Zachary Hare Obituary
SPENCER/LEICESTER - Zachary M. Hare, 18, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 in Boston Children's Hospital after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
He leaves his parents Michael S. Hare of Leicester, Amy K. (Lederer) Hare and his brother Nathan P. Hare of Spencer, his paternal grandparents Stephen C. and Dianne E. Hare of Leicester, maternal grandmother Diane J. Riopel of Worcester. He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather Warren J. Lederer in 2010 and his step grandfather Donald J. Riopel in 2017. Zachary leaves behind Michael and Sherri (Hare) Ferguson, Jaret and Tracey (Hare) Christopher, Kelley Lederer and Paul Skarmeas, Brian and Kim Lederer, and Mark Lederer. His cousins who he adored and will miss him terribly, Connor and Mikayla Ferguson, Katherine, Jack and Alexander Christopher and Nicholas and Drew Lederer.
Zack was a senior at St. Paul's Catholic High School in Worcester. He was an avid athlete who excelled both on and off the baseball field. He loved traveling with his NEB and St. Peter-Marian baseball teams. His enthusiasm and dedication was an inspiration for his teammates and all who were fortunate enough to have met him. Off the field, Zack could be found on the slopes in Vermont or the beaches in Maine. As humble as he was, he would light up a room every time he walked in. He loved to make everyone laugh. His brother, Nate will especially miss his witty remarks and comments. He truly cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Zack's funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 28 in St. Paul's Cathedral, 38 High St., Worcester. A time of visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the Cathedral for all to attend. Burial will be private due to current Covid-19 guidelines. Masks and social distancing at the church must be observed. The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is honored in assisting the family with funeral arrangements. The family would like to thank everyone who helped emotionally and financially over the years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to OneMission.org.

We were heartbroken to learn of Zach´s passing. He touched so many lives, and was an inspiration to so many. Baseball families across central Massachusetts and beyond are mourning with you. We are honored to have known Zach and all of you and will cherish the memories of watching Zach and Patrick at their AAU and Cooperstown games, and it was so nice to see and chat with Zach again at the Westborough vs St Peter Marian 2018 District Playoff game. I was happy honored to have had Zack for two years in class (at SPM and now at Saint Paul) and was always struck with his willpower, humility and desire to continue working hard to complete his schoolwork. His work was always of the highest caliber and he never made excuses, even when he had ample reason to. I wish I had half of the determination Zack demonstrated on a regular basis. He was a marvel to see and will be remembered for a long time. When he stopped replying to my emails this late fall I knew that his health must have really taken a turn for the worst. Zack touch so many people during his (far too short) life. I feel honored that I was able to know him.
