Mrs. Hazel W. Thornton passed away at age of 90 on Thursday, April 20. She was born on February 16, 1927.
She was a former employee of Methodist Publishing House and a Volunteer at Southern Hills Hospital. She provided much loving support for many family members throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. Thornton of 50 years. Also her son, Nathan F. Waldron; her mother, Claytie Stewart; and her sister, Mattie Lou Weatherspoon.
She is survived by devoted daughter-in-law, Abbie Waldron Glover; her loving nieces, Marjorie Claud, Diane Hubbs, and Debbie Anderson. She is also survived by numerous relatives including many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017, at two thirty, Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Sunday from eleven o'clock until two o'clock at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society 214 Overlook Circle #153, Brentwood, TN 37027, Peterson Foundation for Parkinsons 4205 Hillsboro Rd, Suite 317, Nashville, TN 37215, or the American Heart Association P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

I am so sorry to hear of Hazel's passing. I think of her often and wished I had known in time to pay my respects. You are a special daughter-in-law to always be by her side. She adored you. I loved Nathan so much, I wanted to name a child after him. Jim and Hazel were both so special and my
husband Bob who worked with them both at WE also thought the world of them.

Abbie, I am deeply saddened and sorry by the loss of your mother. She and your father are deeply missed. I wish I visited her more often and stayed longer when I did visit. Abbie I am so sorry for our loss. Hazel was a VERY special lady. I remember many a day spent at her house as a child playing with Nathan with Hazel and Mrs. Stewart making peach turnovers for Nathan and I. Love you Hazel <3
