Shelby & I grew up together in Waskom. Texas where we was both born. Both of
our families later moved to Shreveport,
La. where we remained close friends.
Shelby eventually moved from Shreveport
to start into the music field. We did
reconnect recently and we send our love
and sympathy to his family members and
regret this big loss to their family.

As one of the owners of CAMP Marketing, I had the great honor of meeting with Shelby on several occasions during the last year. He was
gracious and very interested in our efforts to market the Sun Records line of products on his behalf. Though myself and my business partners were awed by the history in the music industry that Mr. Singleton embodied, we were equally impressed at how down to earth he was and how easy he was to talk with. We all considered him a treasured new friend and wished we could have known him longer. It was evident in our meetings with him that he was devoted to his family and loved them very much. We pray that his wife, children, and grandchildren will
be comforted and know that many people are praying for them during this difficult time. We are sincerely sorry for your loss and for the loss of all those who knew this fine man and legend.

So sorry for your family's loss. Though we never got to know Shelby Jr., we did know and love his Mom and Dad (my great aunt and uncle). We kept up with your family through them and our Mom (Elanora "Pankey" Marcantel). Please accept our condolences.

I was very sad to hear of Shelby's passing. I worked as an engineer at Sun Records many years ago and was proud to have known him. There were many times at the "kitchen table" that he shared his stories and wisdom of the industry with many of us. I consider myself fortunate to have gained from that wisdom. My prayers condolences to John, Sid and Steve, and Shelby's entire family.

My prayers go out to the family and may God bless you all. Iwas free lancing in Shreveport in the 1950's playing fiddle and played a session on Margies first 45 record. I lost track them though the years when I came to Abilene Texas and opened the Ponderosa Ballroom. May he rest in peace.

I'm a record collector.
The records I like on the Mercury labels from the 60's were either Mr. Singleton's productions or those of his discovery, guitar genius Jerry Kennedy.
A lot of consistently great music!
As busy as he was, Mr. Singleton actually talked to me by phone once and answered a few questions.
A great man from whom we are all better off from his life.
Thanks to Mr. Singleton for a lot of music we will enjoy forever!

John, Steve, and Family:
My heart felt condolences go out to all of you in Shelby's Death. I had no idea he was ill, and I trust that he will "reside in the house of the Lord in Heaven" with all his past friends, acquaintances, and of course, Friendly Finley. Perhaps they will all be conducting the Choir of Angels together! I always enjoyed talking with him, no matter what. He will be missed by many! God Rest His Soul!

Shelby Singleton was our dear life- long friend. He was one of the "behind the scenes legends" from the"Louisiana Hayride" glory days. A "larger-than-life" personality, a major executive in the music industry with many significant achievements, endless friends and fans all over the globe. Everyone will miss him always.

Shelby hired me to play bass on many of his sessions in the 1980's and I will always be grateful to him. We had a lot of fun on those sessions and I am proud to have been associated with this great man. Condolences to Steve and Sid and all the family.
