Age 86. June 27, 2015. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Melba Jean Fry Shumate; parents, Thomas W. Shumate, Sr. & Katherine L. Bowden Shumate; siblings, Roberta Heflin, Alice Louis Moseley, Nancy Johnson & Johnny Shumate.

Survived by daughter, Sharon Diane Shumate Clarke; son, Thomas W. (Shirley) Shumate III; 5 grandchildren, Devin Shumate, Thomas W. (Wendy) Shumate IV, Angela Shumate (Jeremy) Moses, Andrea Shumate & Allen Scott (Tina) Henderson; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jacy Shumate, Grayson Shumate, Adalyn "Addie" Shumate, Laura Beth Shumate, Austin Moses, Caleb Moses, Wyatt Moses, Kyle Campbell, Tyler Henderson & Allison Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11 a.m., at Woodbine Funeral Home, 3620 Nolensville Road, by Wendell Byrd. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Active Pallbearers: Tom Shumate IV, Scott Henderson, Kyle Campbell, Tyler Henderson, Jeremy Moses, Austin Moses & Devin Shumate.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association.

Visitation Wednesday, 4-8 p.m., at Woodbine Funeral Home, Directors (615) 832-1948; Still Family Owned
