HORRELL, Thomas Henry Age 96, passed away surrounded by his family on July 23rd, 2011. Born on October 20, 1914, Henry lived in Nashville all his life where over the years, he was held in high regard as a cherished husband, father, businessman, poet, and man of God. He is survived by: his wife of sixty-eight years, Kathleen Brazelton Horrell; his sons, Fred Thomas Horrell and wife Wanda Ricks, Stephen Henry Horrell and wife Kay Flynt, and John Wilson Horrell, as well as his six grandchildren, Stephanie Riggan and husband Lee Riggan, Thomas Horrell, John Christopher Horrell and wife Anamaria Plesa, Katie Horrell, Sara Darby Horrell, Abigayle Horrell, and two great grandchildren, Coral and Bryce Riggan. Henry Horrell was an extraordinary servant to the Lord, residing as a deacon at Woodmont Baptist Church for sixty-two years as well as a Sunday School teacher for over seventy-five years. He also was a member of the Sugar Tree Bible Study for sixty years. Outside of church, Henry served as Chairman Emeritus of the Board at Belmont University as well as a YMCA board member. He was president and founder of both Horrell Refrigeration and Horrell Properties, Inc., a company that is now in the hands of his three sons. Special thanks to Dr. Karl Vandevender and the gifted caretakers at Woodcrest Health Care as well as special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Crockett, Ms. Leona Williams, and Mr. Quinton Pittman. Henry's Faith Journey Friend's include Bill Echols Sunday School Class, the Woodmont Baptist Church Deacons, the Sugartree Bible Class, Bert Dyson, Jack Robinson, Sr., Viola and Willis Ricks, Jim Cantrell, The Golden Rule Sunday School Class, Jim Cantrell, and Arliss Roaden. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until memorial service at Noon at Woodmont Baptist Church on July 25th. There will a private family burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to Woodmont Baptist Church. They believe that this best reflects on Henry's beliefs and priorities which were always to God and his family. His life was one of tender laughter and the most palpable affection for all those that crossed his path. The warmth of his spirit will never be forgotten. MADISON FUNERAL HOME, (615) 868-9020.
