John Letham Obituary

John W. Letham was born June 14, 1942, in Rexburg, Idaho, and passed away on November 27, 2023, in Driggs, Idaho, at the age of 81.

John grew up in Teton Valley Idaho. In 1960, he graduated from Teton High School where he participated in agriculture, football, wrestling and rodeo. He attended Ricks College and University of Idaho and studied Animal Husbandry. Uncle Sam volunteered him to serve in the Army. For 18 months, he was stationed in Germany in a medical unit which flew into Vietnam, picked up wounded soldiers and transported them to a MASH unit. In 1969 after his father's heart attack, he was discharged and came home to Teton Valley to help on the ranch.

On October 7, 1966, John married Connie Park in Driggs, Idaho and they have two children, Jason and Jammi. They divorced in 1997.

On August 21, 1999, John married Amanda Bengtsson in Tetonia, Idaho and they have one child, Justin.

John wore many hats. He worked at Grand Targhee Ski Resort, served as Water Master for the Grand Teton Canal Company and was an Idaho State brand inspector. For many years, John participated in the Memorial Day programs with the Veteran's Honor Guard at each of Teton Valley's cemeteries which included the 21-gun salute.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel John Letham and Wanda Denning Westergard Letham and his sister, Jeanine Letham Schumacher.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Bengtsson Letham, of Driggs; three children, Jason P. Letham of Driggs, (Melissa Allen), Jammi Letham (Hill) Jones of Idaho Falls, Idaho, (Bruce Jones), and Justin Thomas Letham of Driggs, Idaho.

He leaves behind seven grandchildren: James Allen Letham, Makayla Jane Letham, Jenna Kaye Letham, Morgan Kate Letham, Andrew Bruce Hill, Alexander John Hill, and Alyssa Ren Hill.

Survivors include six siblings: LaRae Pilch of Lindon, Utah, David W. Letham of Smithfield, Utah, (Louise Butler), Sara Lee Rasmussen of Chubbuck, Idaho, (Phillip Rasmussen), Marlene Brinkerhoff of Moreland, Idaho, (David Brinkerhoff), Peggy Hawkins of Rexburg, Idaho, (William Hawkins), and Deanna Phister of West Haven, Utah, (Alan Phister).

The family will receive friends and family Friday evening from 5 to 8pm on December 8th. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9th at 11am and will be broadcast via zoom at https://zoom.us/j/91463638015.

All services will be at the Driggs Stake Center.
