Sally Nettles Braud

Good afternoon.
To those of you who I have not seen since the last event like this one, it has been too long.
Alton Nettles was born to the Alton and Sally Nettles almost 80 years ago. He was followed by three baby sisters. He had two children, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Though he had no male siblings, I think he had many brothers, and that is what I would like to talk about for a few minutes today. Because though he had a small family, his was blessed by many people who filled his life with happiness.
He was a true Louisiana sportsman. He loved to hunt, fish and be outside. The many men who spent countless night with him at the infamous “camp” were like family. He was always welcomed there. I think now that he went for the company and not the game.
He worked for the telephone company for many years and had friend for life from there. He spoke highly of you even after he retired to a life of reading the newspaper and cutting grass full time.
He loved sports and attending sporting events and would go to about anything to which he was invited. LSU, ACHS, Donaldsonville, Kentwood or any other team that was playing at any level was a good game to see with him, especially if he got a little fired up. Thank you for bringing him along, even when he slowed down a little.
All the other people from in town, from Church and the American Legion and the neighborhood were his family too. Know that as he watched your children grow, they were like grandchildren to him.
He lived a long life, and did some good things and some bad things, and all of that is behind him now. So I will end by saying, no matter who he was to you, Mr. Nettles - Net - Doc - Bubba - Junior - Daddy - Paw Paw, I hope you enjoyed your time with him, working or playing or just enjoying a bowl of delicious chocolate ice cream.
And remember that smile, or what ever other look you have in your mind. Know that he would not want you to cry. He would pull a handkerchief out of his pocket, and say “Here Babe” and tell you that everything was going to be OK. And everything is going to be OK.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Aunt Darcie and Family,
I am Jewel K Cutrer, Aunt Kate's daughter, from Hot Springs Village, AR.
Sherman and I were sorry to hear that Uncle Alton Jr. passed away. Momma had been keeping us posted on him, so we knew he wasn't doing good at all.
He always was such a fun-loving character, so full of life and with always some funny story to tell about him and "Kate" growing up together. We will miss him. We will be praying for you all during this sad time.
