Bobby Core Obituary

We have lost a dear friend, brother, and son. Bobby Ray Core died at home at 10:30 pm on December 19, 2020, after battling leukemia for the past five years. He was born in Baton Rouge on April 24,1953. He was a kind, thoughtful and quiet spirit who had a tremendous zest for fun! His favorite place was Pensacola, Florida, where he spent many years sailing his catamaran in the Gulf of Mexico, returning regularly to the beach to hang out at his favorite spot. After a 40-year career with the Baton Rouge Clinic, Bobby retired in 2015 as a Supervisor in the X-ray Department. He is survived by his long-time best friend and love of his life, Elaine DeBaun, his mother Bette Dees Core, a bother Chic A. Core (Shirley), his sisters Judy Dreher Lejeune (Charlie) and Jackie C. Funkhauser and six nephews and nieces. Having received time, attention and love from Bobby are Elaine's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Ray Core. Due to COVID 19 there will not be a memorial service at this time. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Fozzy and I were so saddened to hear (far too late) about the death of Bobby. I worked with him at the BR Clinic and Fozzy knew him and Elaine quite well from Phil Brady´s. Bobby was a dear, gentle soul who loved to laugh. We were so glad Bobby and Elaine developed a strong, loving relationship after each of them lost their first loves. God bless him. Blessings and love to Elaine and their families. Love Fozzy and Lisa Collins.

My most sincere condolences to Bobby's family and partner in life. A finer person I've never met. I cherish my memories. They are some of the best memories of my life. We both loved the outdoors and had some great times. I was around when Bobby lost Susan. Since I'm a long standing patient of the BR Clinic I would run into Bobby from time to time. I've been battling my own health issues this past 5 years and did not realize Bobby had gotten sick. My biggest regret...not staying in closer touch. I wish all of you well and sincerely hope that your grief and sadness will be replaced soon by fond and warm memories of a life well lived to the fullest. He did cherish having fun! I don't think I ever once heard Bobby raise his voice! He was definitely a quiet man in a good way.

Goodbye old friend and classmate. While we lost touch over the last 10 years, you remain one of my very closest friends. I think of you often as I remember our vacations together in Pensacola, good times on False River, camping trips, etc. Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers! I miss you. Save a barstool for me Bobby and we can pick up where we left off brother! Your Friend Forever!
