David "Kent" Riddle

1955 - 2024

David "Kent" Riddle, a true character and storyteller extraordinaire, passed away on October 11, 2024, at the age of 69. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love and will be missed by everyone lucky enough to have known him. Born on June 30, 1955, in Abilene, Texas, Kent spent his childhood in Texas before finding his way to New Orleans, where he graduated from O. Perry Walker High School. He then attended LSU, earning dual bachelor's degrees in General Studies and Petroleum Land Management. While at LSU, Kent was actively involved in the Baptist Collegiate Ministry and Parkview Baptist's College and Career group, where he met his wife, Cindy. He also worked at the Louisiana School for the Deaf while in college. After graduating from LSU, he donned the cap of an oil and gas landman, but his real title was "Master of Conversation." Kent was a die-hard sports fan, proudly cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, and his vinyl record collection would put many to shame. His friends and family would often joke that he could talk the ear off a statue-if you needed a good story, trivia, or a joke, he was your guy! Kent is survived by his wife, Cindy Riddle; his two children, Connie and Jeffrey Riddle; his grandson, Quinn Riddle; his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Ray Mitchell; his mother, Joyce Riddle; and a crew of nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Billy "Don" Riddle, Kent is preceded in death by his two older brothers, Mark Riddle and Craig Riddle. Kent's memory, generous spirit, and infectious sense of humor will continue to bring smiles and warmth to all who were touched by his life. We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating his life at Parkview Baptist Church on Thursday, November 14. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
