Dewey Coburn Obituary

Dewey Matthew Coburn was born on Dec. 6, 1924, and passed away on March 19, 2009. A resident of New Roads, he served his country as a U.S. Marine during World War II and retired from ExxonMobil. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Newman Coburn; daughter, Lynn Coburn Thompson; son, Andrew "Andy" Coburn; daughter-in-law, Carla Moreau Coburn; son-in-law, Leon Thompson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Penolia and Cassie Thornton Powers; adoptive parents, Andrew and Lucy Womack Coburn; brothers, Phillip and William "Bill" Powers; and sisters, Elsie P. Gill, Gracie P. Severio and Lena P. Ponsock. Dewey always gave a helping hand to those in need throughout his life. A special thanks to family, friends and the many caregivers during his illness. Arrangements pending with Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs.
