Hank Pearce & Family

I vividly remember living next door to the Booth family in the 50's & 60's in Shoreacres Tx. They were a great family & good neighbors. We had some tough times with hurricanes in those days, esp. Hurricane Carla. I remember looking up to Gene who was 6 years older than me. He was an awesome guy, smart and driven to succeed! We went our separate ways, but I thought about the family many times. I could go on and on about them. God Bless Gene and his extended family.

Eugene Booth was a man's man. He had more courage in his little finger than most of us have in our whole body. Gene was the commander of a helicopter attack unit in Vietnam. He flew at least one mission each day, some days several, except on Christmas Day, was in combat every day.
He was a competent Attorney; worked hard at his profession and always put his client first.
Gene was an honorable man. He loved his family and he loved our Country. I will miss him. I will never forget him. He is now in The Good Lord's hands. God bless him.

Gene and I became friends in the fall of 1962 when we were in the same squad at LSU ROTC. After college he became an army helicopter pilot and was a true hero in Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroics which is about as high as it gets. Had he decided to stay on active duty I have no doubt that he would have become a General. After the service he became an outstanding lawyer and I always enjoyed seeing him at the courthouse. Suzanne I wish you and the children the best. He was a great one!

I worked with Gene at the Parish Attorney's Office for over twenty years. He was always kind and approachable when I was starting out in my career. As we continued to work together, Gene was always respectful toward me and was a stalwart member of the team. In my mind, Gene was always grinning as if he knew something that no one else did. He was good natured and a pleasure to be around. I am saddened by his passing. The world has lost a true gentleman and a treasured colleage.

My heart goes out to Suzanne and the rest of Gene's family.

With Warm regards,
Mary E. Roper
