Kathryn Anton Obituary

""""Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her work bring her praise at the city gate."" Proverbs 31:29-31. Kathryn Louise Armstrong Anton went to be with her Savior Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the age of 91. She was a native of Ida, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She is survived by her three children, daughters; Vicki K. Anton, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Marcia Koesling (Don) of Denton, Texas and son George E. Anton, Jr. (Lisa ) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Katie leaves behind two grandchildren, Melissa Crochet and Kaitlyn Anton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and 2 great grandsons, Dylan Peterson, parents, Gary and Cindy Peterson, and Brayden Durning. She also leaves behind a sister, Dolly Snell, a brother, I.C. Armstrong, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her loving husband; Dr. George E. Anton, Sr., sisters; Lois Bain, Lavenia Murphy, and Laura Herring, brothers; Alan Armstrong, Lee Armstrong and Ford Armstrong. Katie was a long time member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church where she was involved with her Sunday school class, and their Widows in Ministry program. Katie was an inspirational matriarch to her family and set great examples for her children, and anyone that met her. She was a 25 year, three-time ovarian cancer survivor being a true living testament to her faith, her character and a love of life and always maintained a positive outlook. Katie enjoyed cooking, reading, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family. We will celebrate her life, Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Boulevard with visitation from 12pm to 2pm and funeral services immediately following. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dennis Johnsey with interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. It's all but a dream that my worst fear would become a reality this year, losing you and having to know the one person that was always there no matter what would be taken from me. I know it's a short time until we meet again in a better place and time. You taught me more than I can ever imagine, to be strong, no matter what, don't complain, put a smile on your face even if you're dying inside, you were the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother that anyone could ask for. Please watch over me as I try to figure this out or at least bring peace and thank you for hanging on until I made it. I knew you would, I love you, NANA, my angel, my best friend, and guidance! Thank you for everything and most of all for being you!

To the family of Mrs. Katie: I was so sorry to hear of her passing. I had the pleasure of being one of her home health therapists. Her sister, Mrs. Laura, had been one of my church members. I really enjoyed seeing that beautiful smile every time I would go to see her. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Love to the Anton Family. Though we never had the privilege of meeting your amazing mother, through Marcia's many wonderful stories we feel like we really did know her.
