Lynn Hernandez Obituary

Lynn Wayne Hernandez, a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Slaughter, LA, left this life while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the age of 85. Lynn was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a loyal brother. He was giving, a role model to many with a kind heart and soul that welcomed all to his home. He is a 1956 graduate of Baker High School, served as team captain of the football team, and was inducted into the Baker Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. Lynn would go on to play football at the University of Southwest Louisiana University and earned a degree in Health and Physical Education in 1962. He first coached and taught school in Kissimmee, Florida before returning home to Erath High School, where he left the profession and joined Wilson's Wholesale Distributors, where he retired as Sr. VP of Merchandising. In retirement, he became the owner and operator of Sullivans Hardware. Lynn enjoyed most being with his family, his farm, his animals, fishing, and an occasional golf game with his friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Linden P. Hernandez, Jr. and mother, Eunice Louise Beard; and son-in-law, Charles Wesley Jones. Jerry & Jeri Rogers

My wife Jeri and I met Mr. Hernandez at Wilson´s on Florida Blvd buying toys for our children. Our paths crossed again when Jeri worked for Todd at the court house and when he bought Sullivans Hardware. He always had time for conservation and I looked forward to seeing him. A good and kind man an we will miss him.

Such a special man and great friend to my Dad (Lawrence Seguin), he was with us at the hospital when we lost daddy. I realized then why daddy thought so much of Mr. Lynn. I pray for comfort for his family that loved him and he loved so much. God Bless
