Robert Easterly Obituary

He was born July 19, 1942, in Baton Rouge. Executive vice president of Hancock Bank of Louisiana, he died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at his home in Denham Springs. He was 66 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. Visitation at Live Oak United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct. 3, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the church on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Mark Crosby and the Rev. Tommy Bergeron. Burial in St. Williams Catholic Church Cemetery, Port Vincent. Survived by his wife, Sara Sue Gaddy Easterly; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Shannon Womack, Allyson and Jeri Kohler and Julie and Michael Guillet; stepson, Scott Ayers; five grandchildren, Landry Devall, Ashleigh Womack, Tristyn Browning, Izabelle Kohler and Emily Guillet; stepgrandchildren, Brad and Amanda Womack; father, Embree K. Easterly; siblings and their spouses, Richard K. and Nancy Easterly, James D. Easterly, Sharon E. and Guy Watkins IV; uncle and aunt, Dr. P.M. and Amy Breaud. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Breaud Easterly; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Justin and Sara Wilson; and brother-in-law, Pat M. Gaddy. He was a graduate of LSU and numerous banking schools, including the Professional Master of Banking. He was past president of Community Bankers of Louisiana and served on the board of directors of the community bankers for many years. He also served on the board of directors of the Independent Bankers Association of America and the advisory board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He was a founding member of the Livingston Economic Development Council, where he was past president and served on the board and advisory committee. He was president and chairman of the board of First National Bank of Denham Springs before the merger with Hancock Bank. He was on the board of directors of Hancock Bank and an active member of Live Oak United Methodist Church where he served on many committees. He was a charter member of Jefferson United Methodist Church. He served on the board of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. He was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited and his hobbies included golf, fishing and hunting. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Live Oak United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 709, Watson, LA 70786 or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. Pallbearers will be Tommy Ott, Dr. Stephen Breaud, Alan Breaud, I.D. Easterly, Shelby Easterly, Bruce Easterly, Lyle Easterly, Brett Malcolm, Richard C. Easterly and Guy Watkins V. Special thanks to Dr. David Hanson and Dr. Sheldon Johnson, all the special "angels" on the fifth floor of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and to Generations Hospice. A heartfelt thanks to Larry Selvage for his love, concern and support. The family would like to thank the many friends and family for their prayers and support. Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs is in charge of arrangements.
