William R. "Bill" Chadwick

1947 - 2023

William R. Chadwick, age 76, loving husband, father, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Louisa, VA on October 3, 2023. William, affectionately known as Bill, Daddy Bill, or Chad, was born on October 2, 1947, to Rupert and Dorothy Chadwick in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Bill attended Lee High School, and soon after was drafted and served 2 years in Germany from 1967 to 1969. He and Kris married in Baton Rouge in 1970, and raised two beautiful children, Michelle, and Michael. He was always an encouraging partner and supported Kris through all her achievements. They shared fifty-three amazing years, and celebrated their anniversary just one day before he closed his eyes for the last time. Bill was generous; he gave to the world. He worked with families that had experienced the grief of losing a child. As well, his time was spent preparing meals for those he loved and taking on home renovation projects. He extended his role as father to many nephews and nieces and became involved in the church community nearby. Bill is survived by his wife, Kris, his daughter, Michelle, their adopted son, Brian, and his brother and sister-in-law, John, and Carol Chadwick. Bill is predeceased by his parents and his son, Michael. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church at 17510 Monitor Ave. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Just as Bill used to enjoy cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, the family celebrated Bill's life with the same traditional meals at his home over the summer '23. Kris and Michelle wish to express heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the family who stood by their side in loving support during Bill's illness over the summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Piedmont Charlottesville, VA or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
