Willie Lloyd Jr.

Willie Lloyd, Jr. departed this life peacefully on August 12, 2021, at the age of 88 surrounded by his family. He was a true man of God, he was a faithful member of Donaldson Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He did great work for the Lord leading this ministry until he was unable to fulfill his duties because of health reasons and became Deacon Emeritus. He married the love of his life, Joyce Marie Kemp Lloyd and was married for 55 plus years. To this union they had three children, but were the parents of five. He was one of the first graduates from Capitol High in 1951. He was an alumnus of Southern University and a true Jaguar fan. He served in the United States Army ranking 2nd Lieutenant later worked for the Postal Service for 33 Years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, two sons, Christopher (Kim), Eric (Tamara), two daughters, Deborah, Lisa L. Nelson (Willie), 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lloyd, Sr. and Lurtie Hampton Lloyd, sisters Irma Lloyd Brown, Inez Lloyd, brothers Norman and Monroe Lloyd, and daughter Sherylanne (Cookie) Lloyd. Visitation will be held at Winnfield Funeral Home Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 4 pm-7 pm. Private Celebration of Life, Friday, August 20, 2021.
