Isaac Joseph Eskind JR

1927 - 2015

Isaac Joseph Eskind Jr. was born May 8, 1927, and he was 88 years old when he went to be with the Lord October 21, 2015. Ike was born and raised in Weeks Island, LA. For the past few years he has been a resident of Antlers. Everyone that knew him, knew him as Ike. Ike enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948. Ike worked in the salt mine and then went to work for Rock Island Railroad Company as an electrician and an engineer for thirty years. He was a loving husband, father and friend, and was loved by everyone who knew him. Ike was a deacon at the Ethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was very devoted Christian. Ike loved children, and he always had a pocket of quarters just for them. Ike was preceded in death by his mother and father Pearl and Isaac Eskind, three brothers Albert Eskind, Raymond Eskind and Francis Eskind, sister Marion Eskind Myers, (stillborn) daughter Izetta Eskind, grandson Rocky Eskind Jr. and his wife Lois Eskind. Survived by his two sisters, Mary Herpel and husband Gary of Freemont, CA, and two children Bill Corbin and wife Beverly of Hayward, CA, and one daughter Cassandra of San Hose, CA; Jeff Corbin and wife Debbie of Las Vegas, NV, Pearl Owens of New Iberia, LA, and seven children, Willis Owens Jr. and wife Ann of Lydia, LA, Peggy Darcey and husband Rickey of New Iberia, LA, Luke Owens of Loreauville, LA, Bill Owens and wife Sharon of West Lake, LA, Susie Estelle and husband Buddy of Lydia, LA, Geraldine Thibodeaux and husband Peter of Lydia, LA. Sally Battaglia and husband Drew of Sulfur, LA. Children, two sons, Merlin Eskind of Oklahoma City and Captain Mac and Susan of Antlers. One daughter Eva Sloan and husband Carl, of Kenefic. Grandchildren Brooke and husband Brent Osborn of Kenefic and their six children, Damon and Leslie Sloan of Shrewsbury, MA and two children, Emily McConnell of Mississippi Jessica Kessler of Mississippi and six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the Ethel Missionary Baptist Church in Antlers.
