James Welling Obituary

James Henry Welling, Sr. (Jim), age 92 (1,124 months) has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 9, 2025. Born May 1, 1932, in Baltimore, he was the son of late William Brayshaw Welling, Sr. and Hannah (Sykes) Welling of Sykesville. He was the loving husband of 47 years (568 months) to Ruthie Williams Welling. As a young man Jim was very involved in 4H and track and field. He carried on his father's farming legacy of being a dedicated dairy farmer; eventually becoming a beef and crop producer. Jim dedicated his life to the land and the agriculture community. Jim was known for farming, family and being a faithful Christian. Surviving in addition to his wife are children; Hank and Julie Welling, Willie and Misty Storm, Ricky and Lisa Storm, Debbie and Tommy Albaugh, and Patti and Greg Burdette; daughter in-law Diane Welling; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Frederic (Rick) Welling, and siblings; Bill, Gist, Dusty, and Rachel. A celebration of life service will be held on May 3rd at 11 at his lifelong family farm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Farmers Outreach (P.O. Box 136 Hampstead, MD 21074) or any 4-H Club or Hospice of your choice.

Jim was a good friend and a true gentleman. It was my pleasure to work with him and to spend time with him and I have nothing but fond memories for Jim Welling. He will be sorely missed by all I will keep his family in my prayers.
