Gordon Jowers Obituary

Bruce Jowers

Gordon "Bruce" Jowers Jr., 58, entered into eternal peace on Jan. 12, 2021. Bruce, born in Brunswick on Nov. 26, 1962, was a lifelong Glynn County resident.

Bruce was a 1981 graduate of Brunswick High School. He worked for years in construction, mainly hanging sheetrock. He accepted Jesus as a young person and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He was active for many years in the Alcoholics Anonymous community for which he had much respect.

Bruce never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking with others and had a keen sense of humor. He had a love for fishing which came from his father, Brady Jowers, who preceded him in death. Passing down his fishing talents to his children and grandchildren was something that Bruce really enjoyed. Besides his father, Bruce was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Earnest and Lucille Jowers, and Reo and Viola Padgett.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Darrell and Jerry Parker of Brunswick; one son, Aaron Jowers (Brittany); one daughter, Megan Mincey; one grandson, Ayden; one granddaughter, Aleya; and two step-granddaughters, Rileigh and Peyton, all of McIntosh County, Ga.; one stepbrother, Greg Parker (Tracey) of Glen Allen, Va.; and several other remaining relatives.

The funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Chapel. The visitation will start at 3 p.m., with the service to follow at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Scott McVey officiating.

We ask those who attend wear a mask.

Honorary pallbearers will be his cousins, Earnest Jowers and Gary Jowers; and his friends, Tyler King, John Dixon, Craig Miller and Chad Waters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Northside Baptist Church in Brunswick, or to a charity of your choice.

Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

It was great knowing Bruce. Every once in a while he would come over and visit with us. I love the stories Gary has told me about their childhood. Him, Earnie and Gary were more like brothers than cousins. He will surely be missed. I love y’all dearly.
