Mrs. Hazel B. Easter, age 91, of Cana, Virgina, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, March 13, 2024, at home surrounded by family. She was born April 15, 1932, to the late Ervin and Sena Bowman. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a kind and loving friend to everyone blessed to have known her. Mrs. Easter retired at 85 from the Carroll County School System after 30 years of service, and truly loved her St. Paul family. She faithfully served the LORD all her life and was a member of Hope Community Church in Cana. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Todd Hill; her son, Gerald Easter; her grandchildren and spouses, Kyla Hill, Kirby and Ethan Meadows, Krissa Hill, Blair and Tim Parker, and Zane and Rose Campbell; her great-grandchildren, Mika Troutman, Elliot Troutman, Jackson Meadows, Kennedy Meadows, and Presley Parker; her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Dean Payne; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Bowman; special friend Hayley Hill. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Price Easter, brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Hazel Bowman; brother, Charlie Bowman; and a sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Gwyn Higgins. Funeral services for Mrs. Easter will be held at Hope Community Church in Cana, Virginia, Monday, March 18, 2024, at 2 PM with the Rev. Anthony Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, Fancy Gap, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until the time of the service; at other times the family welcomes friends at the home of Delores and Todd Hill at 532 Peakview Road, Cana, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Community Church Building Fund, PO Box 363, Cana, Virginia 24317. Moody's of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Easter family.
