MANSFIELD
Beverly Hall Korba (aka Bevit), 90, of Mansfield, Connecticut, passed away on October 1, 2024, on her 90th birthday, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Burton C. Hall and Doris W. Hall of Chaplin, Connecticut. Beverly graduated from Windham High School in 1952. After raising her children and caring for her mother for many years, she returned to college and graduated from QVCC in 1985. Beverly became a social worker in Norwich, Connecticut, where she flourished and touched many lives with her compassion and empathy until her retirement.
Beverly is predeceased by her husband, Jack Korba, beloved sister, June Crawford, and brother, Stuart Hall. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine James (Storrs), three daughters, Kathy McCarthy (Ashford), Linda Korba (Springfield, MA), and Shelly Burelle (East Longmeadow, MA) sons-in-law, Brian McCarthy, Mike Burelle and former son-in-law, Michael Cushman, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a dear friend, William Strand (Mansfield), and numerous friends from Glen Ridge, where she lived since 2009.
Beverly was incredibly active in the Glen Ridge community. She began a quarterly newsletter and initiated the Women's Group, Men's Group, and the Hospitality Committee. She contributed to the Building and Grounds Committee, hosted weekly coffee hours, served on the Executive Board for several years, and represented Glen Ridge at the Commission on Aging.
Beverly enjoyed gardening, movies, playing tennis, and hosting barbecues. She loved New England, with spring and fall as her favorite seasons, and enjoyed vacationing in New Hampshire and Vermont. Her favorite place was her deck filled with flowers, where she enjoyed reading and watching the birds and wildlife and often visiting with family and friends over an occasional G&T. She was very politically astute and believed in democracy and women's rights. Her favorite president was Barack Obama.
Beverly was the matriarch of her family and taught us the importance of sticking together and supporting one another, no matter the circumstances. She held the only key to the family vault and was a confidante to all of us. She was the person you called for support or when sharing news. She was fun and possessed an optimism like no other, had an amazingly warm spirit, a beautiful smile, and a wonderful sense of humor. With a vast amount of wisdom, she shared generously and did so with grace and love.
Beverly will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She noted that she would leave this world with her heart bursting with pride and love for her three daughters. Her legacy of love, support, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made to the Covenant Soup Kitchen in Willimantic.
