John Dixon Obituary

John Edward Dixon, 85, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, while a resident at the DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois, PA.

He was the oldest son of Roseanna (Jukes) and Cecil Dixon born on November 27, 1939, in Clearfield, PA. He was one of nine children.

John married Linda Jean Sprague on July 4, 1981, at the First Baptist Church in Reynoldsville. In 1984, they welcomed a son, and best friend to his dad, John E. Dixon Jr. Despite losing his arm at the age of 16 in an accident, John was always employed until retirement at age 62. His last job was at DuBois Area Schools as a custodian. John was a former member of the Reynoldsville American Legion. He made friends everywhere he went. John had two great loves, they were cutting grass and music. He learned to play the guitar using a prosthetic arm. In later years, he enjoyed singing karaoke at home.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by five sons: Christopher, Edward, Frank, David, and John Jr.; four grandchildren: Christopher, Holly, Seth, and Braden; and two siblings: Robert and Millie.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in passing by his granddaughter: Megan; three brothers: Cecil Jr., William, and Larry; and three sisters: Thelma, Elsie, and Sylvia Jean.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 2- 4 p.m. at the Snyder - d'Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will follow immediately at 4 p.m., officiated by Pastor Kevin Brooks.
