Mary Rittenhouse Obituary

Mary Joann Rittenhouse, age 70, of Clay Plant Road, Brockway, Pa., died on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born on Sept. 8, 1945, in Crenshaw, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Pisarchick Baka.
She was married to Richard H. Rittenhouse. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2013. They had shared 47 years of married life.
Retired, Joann had been employed at both Brockway Glass and then at Ross Mould for a total of 43 years.
She was a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway, and was a member of the auxiliary at Christ the King Manor.
Joann enjoyed growing flowers around her home and over the years she and Rich enjoyed the company of many, many dogs, raising them from puppies. She was an avid social networker and never missed an opportunity to send cards to her family and friends for any occasion. Perhaps her greatest joy came every Wednesday going on shopping trips with her best friend, Shirley Billock.
She is survived by two sisters, Marian (John) Martini of Brockway and Gerri Paruso, also of Brockway; two brothers, James (Dolores) Baka of Painesville, Ohio and Eugene Baka of Rosemont, Minn. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and as previously mentioned, her best friend, Shirley Billock of Brockway.
In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by four brothers: John Baka, William Baka, Leo Baka and Kenneth Baka and two sisters: Adeline Smith and Ann "Betty" Cyone.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at St. Tobias Church will the Rev. Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Brockway Ambulance Association or St. Tobias Church.
