Juan Negron Obituary

Juan Antonio Negron

Juan Antonio Negron, lovingly known as Pastor Tony, age 93, died peacefully at home in Vineland, NJ, on March 20, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He was born September 03, 1927 in Camuy, Puerto Rico to Dionisio Negron and Catalina Bracero. He had two sisters Clotilde Negron and Aida Negron; and three brothers Ramon Negron, Jose Vicente Negron, and Juan Rodriguez Negron.

He graduated high school in 1944 in Puerto Rico. In 1945 he enlisted in the army and served in World War II. In 1950 he moved to New York and worked doing deliveries and at a furniture store. He enjoyed theater arts and performed in many musicals and stage shows.

While living in New York he had four daughters Catalina, Edelmira, Ivonne, and Sandra. Years later, he met the love of his life, Elba. After several years of courtship, they were joined in marriage on February 2, 1957. They had three sons Juan Antonio Jr, Blanes, and David. They were married for 63 years!

He attended the Jameson School of Ministry in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1991. He was ordained as a reverend on February 1, 1992. He continued his theology studies and received the degree of Doctor of Divinity on June 4, 1995. Pastor Tony loved the Lord with all his heart and was extremely devoted to the ministry. He was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Newtonville for many years before establishing Prayer Warriors Ministry, Inc. They rented several locations before finally purchasing their very own church on Valley Ave. in Vineland. He spent much of his time and energy in caring for his family members and church family. During his ministry, he did missionary work traveling around the world. He travelled to many prisons and hospitals as a chaplain. He was guest speaker at many churches. Pastor Tony performed many marriage ceremonies and presented many children to God in dedication ceremonies. He also worked extremely hard and brought many to the Lord. Pastor Tony loved both his personal family and the church members and was always willing to do anything he could to help anyone at any time.

He really enjoyed farming and took great pride in working on his farm. He had livestock and he also grew various crops. Nothing brought him more joy than to take his grandchildren with him to work with his animals on the farm.

Many in the community will remember his many acts of kindness and his beaming smile. He always had a kind word for everyone, and no one was a stranger. He befriended every person he came across and was very happy to share with them the love of Jesus.

He is survived by his children Catalina Negron Decaire (Tom), Edelmira Negron, Ivonne Martinez (Eduardo), Sandra Negron (Jose), Juan Antonio Negron, Jr. (Sylvia), Blanes (Penny); 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Pastor Tony was preceded in death by his parents Dionisio Negron and Catalina Bracero; his siblings Clotilde Negron, Aida Negron, Ramon Negron, Jose Vicente Negron, and Juan Rodriguez Negron; his son David; and his wife Elba.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, March 25th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, with a service beginning at 7:00 pm. He was an amazing friend. And no matter what it was he was always there for me. After having 2 brain surgeries from a car accident it change my life and he was someone I always looked up to. And when someone would start complaining about anything I would always bring him up in the conversation. So they would understand that someone at his age I would never her complaining . I was so shocked that at his age he could remember so much with out missing a beat. I would always get so exited to go and see him. I want to tell the family I have you guys in my prayers. And if you guys need any help in any way my email is [email protected] When I heard the news I was tearing because he was a true friend and my birthday was the day after he passed and I was thinking what I was going to do for his birthday. I’m streamly sad he’s gone but I know he’s in a better place. God bless
