Anthony Piluso Obituary

Uncasville - Anthony A. "Tony" Piluso Sr., 74, of Uncasville, entered eternal life July 6, 2023. He was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Bridgeport, the son of the late Andrew and Antoinette (Nastasia) Piluso. He was predeceased by his sister Joann Stiliha.

Tony grew up in Fairfield, and graduated high school from Notre Dame of Fairfield in 1966, where he was an exceptional athlete. The highlight of his baseball career was when he was invited to try out for the Milwaukee Braves. He went on to play baseball for Sacred Heart University and graduated in 1970, with a BA. Tony was a U.S. Army veteran and was honorably discharged in 1974. He was a resident of Uncasville for the last 25 years and employed as a supervisor at Mohegan Sun Casino until he retired in 2012.

During Tony's life, he embraced his Italian heritage through his cooking. On weekends, he could be found on the golf course. Tony was a sports enthusiast, watching golf and rooting for his beloved LA Dodgers and the Green Bay Packers. In addition to the strong bond he had with his son, Tony had life-long friendships that he deeply treasured. He was kind, patient and had an incredible sense of humor. One of his best memories included a trip to Italy with his son. Tony was a communicant of the Cathedral of St. Patrick Church in Norwich.

He is survived by his beloved son Anthony A. Piluso Jr. of Quaker Hill; his nieces, Tammy Moyher (Stiliha), Cheryl (John) Colucci (Stiliha); and great-niece and nephews, Nicoletta Colucci, Andrew Colucci and Charlie Moyher; and brother-in-law Roger Stiliha.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, in the Cathedral of St. Patrick Church, 213 Broadway, Norwich. Interment will be private.

My condolences to the Piluso family. Tony was a legendary athlefe at Assumption and Notre Dame. We all tried to follow in his footsteps even though we were behind him in school and didn´t get to know him personally. We knew him by his excellent reputation.RIP, Tony.

Tony was a great neighbor growing up. We played every sport together in Dover park and later at ND and SHU. He was an excellent football and baseball player. Remember all the times we used his dad's car to go to Vista for beer. RIP old friend
