Cecelia Messore

Oakdale - Cecelia (Coleda) Messore passed away Sept. 7, 2021. Born Oct. 22, 1941, in Norwich, to the late Michael Coleda and Dolores MacNeil. She was the oldest of eight children including her sisters, Michele Coleda, Virginia Buonanno, Amy Visgilio and brother Richard Visgilio. She was predeceased by brothers, Tracy Coleda, Vincent Buonanno and Frank Visgilio Jr.

Graduating from Norwich Free Academy in 1959, she went on to graduate from Willimantic State College class of 1963. She was in Who's who among college students and a member of Kappa Delta Pi. Teaching was in her soul whether she was in a classroom or out in the world.

Cecelia was happily married for 58 years to Paul Messore where they built their life in Montville surrounded by extended family. Mother to four children, Jonathan (Laurie), Terrence (Karen), Erin Pedone (Johnny), and Daniel. She was Gram to many, great-grandmother "GG" to many more and an educator to everyone she met. She was grateful for her brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Carol Messore, who would always make trips from New York to visit, as well as Nanette Wilson and her boys who always checked in their "Mrs. America" She was grateful for everyone who took the time to visit and sit down for some fantastic food she always had on hand. Her door was always open.

She loved poetry, children, flowers and teaching but most of all she was a woman who loved all of mankind. A healer, a giver and nurturer to all.

Calling hours will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Rd, Uncasville. We ask that everyone wear masks. A Private funeral for family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Montville Senior and Social Services, 310 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Uncasville, CT 06382. The Woyasz & Son Funeral Home of Uncasville is assisting with arrangements.
