Clare Noel Obituary

Groton Long Point - Clare "Bunny" Marie Hobert Noel, of Groton Long Point, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024. She was 83 years old. Born Aug. 19, 1940, in Holyoke, Mass., to Clare Manning Hobert and Roland Hobert, Bunny was one of nine children: Gail, Jim, Jack, Margo, Bunny, Susie, Pat, Mary and Jerry.

Bunny graduated from Ursuline Academy in Holyoke, Mass. Bunny met the love of her life, Andre Noel, at Groton Long Point, a cherished summer family retreat. The two married in September of 1960, beginning a beautiful life filled with fun and adventure. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Andy, Oct. 8, 2015.

Bunny leaves behind her children, Michael Noel and Julie Noel Pollard (Jeff); her grandchildren: Taylor and Caitlin Noel; Noelle, Charlie, Rachel (Nishant), and Benjamin Pollard; and her great-granddaughter Aria Clare.

Bunny cultivated a warm and loving home surrounded by a circle of friends in her sewing club and another group with whom she enjoyed playing Bunko. She enjoyed traveling the world alongside her beloved Andy. Bunny and Andy traveled widely throughout Europe and the Caribbean. Known affectionately as the fun aunt, Bunny's nieces and nephews adored her.

Once her children, Michael and Julie, began school, Bunny embarked on a new chapter, working for Joyce Resnikof of the Olde Mistick Village for 30 years. Her gentle manner, humor and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. A dedicated member of the Daughters of Isabella, Bunny thrived in social gatherings, never missing a family party or cookout. Her home was always filled with joy, laughter and a freezer stocked with special treats for her little visitors. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Church Mother of the Redeemer, where faith was a guiding light in her life.

In celebration of Bunny's life, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring a loving woman who never forgot anyone and brought happiness to all. Her spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those she met. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday, July 31, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road. in Groton. Her burial will follow the Mass at the Noank Valley Cemetery. Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness.

Growing up with Bunny in the summer was always a joy. In latter years saw her a lot at GLPVFD with my partner Andy.

Mike and Julie, I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mom was always a loving, gentle soul. The world needs more folks just like her. You were so lucky to have had her in your lives. I feel the same way about your dad - such a lovely, gentle man. I'm thinking of you both and sending you my love.

Aunt Bunny-
You were just the best- giving a 5 year old their own roll of lifesavers to eat as they want without adult supervision will be imprinted in my heart forever- peanut butter and jelly sandwiches always tasted better at your house. You were deeply loved- and will be missed- much love- Brenda
