Joshua Dwyer Obituary

Waterford - Joshua James Dwyer, 36, of Waterford, joined Gods angels on Monday, June 29, 2015, from pancreatic cancer. Josh passed over at home surrounded by the love of his wife, parents, sisters and brothers.

He was born Aug. 27, 1978, to James and Patricia Dwyer in Hartford, one of eight children. Josh grew up in Winsted, and attended St. Anthony School and Gilbert High School. Josh and his wife, Jodi (Jennings) Dwyer, have lived in Waterford for the past 15 years. They married on May 14, 2011 in Niagara Falls, NY and have two beautiful girls, Madelyn (ten) and Mackenzie (three), that were the apple of his eye.

A cook for many years, Josh found his way into landscaping. This work led him to his real passion, cutting down trees. As his work passion grew, he began to learn to climb trees which earned him the nickname 'The Beast'. Sadly the dream to fully establish a tree service company was cut short when he learned of his cancer diagnosis in March 2013 and his nickname of The Beast held a new meaning.

It would be safe to say that there was never a dull moment when Josh was around. Josh was a bundle of mischief from the start, the trickster of the family, he kept the family laughing and on edge. He had a heart of gold, he was loyal, tender, fearless, super witty and extremely protective of his family and close friends. He had a zest for life that he held onto through his final days.

Josh is survived by his wife, Jodi Dwyer and their daughters, Madelyn and Mackenzie Dwyer; his parents, James and Patricia Dwyer of Old Saybrook; his grandmother, Evelyn Hendricks of Torrington; his siblings, Jennifer Hoey of Florida, Heather Dwyer of Old Saybrook, Jason Dwyer of North Carolina, Jessica Clark of Torrington, Sabrina Dwyer of Boston, Jonathan Dwyer of Old Saybrook and Caitlin Dwyer of Newport, R.I.; many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 10, at First Baptist Church, 105 Rope Ferry Road, Waterford, with a reception to follow. A plan to place a memorial bench in loving memory of Josh is in motion for the Kingfisher Way parklet.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joshua's name to Cactus Jack Foundation Inc. of Waterford and www.treasuredtime.org.

Hi Jodi, I am so sorry for the loss of your Husband Josh. I am friends with Amanda and she has kept me posted. Even my neighbor who does not know Josh mentioned it to me. She was sad for the loss too. I pray for our Lord to Embrace you and your daughters; to remember all the great times and all memories of the life you had with him. Love and Light. We all Celebrate Josh.
