Mikey,

What can I say to you? To the end of such an insanely beautiful life? I was asked for one word to describe you and the only thing I could think of, was invincible. You have always been my invincible big brother. My big brother that told the five year old boys on the playground that they better not break my heart and the reason that everyone is surprised when I can throw a perfect spiral. I forgive you for dislocating my shoulder and not letting me tell mom and I forgive you for always having funnier punchlines than me. And now that you're watching over our family I realize that you truly were as invincible as I thought you were. Because in your physical absence, I see that no one can break your spirit. Your spirit, your love, your strength, your loyalty, your life, shone bright in your eyes and through your smile. Not one person has gone without the recognition of your never ending smile. All that it took was a second with you, and your vivaciousness for life was infectious.

Michael, I love you. And I miss you with all of my heart and soul. Your life was a beautiful one. And though you had your struggles, with yourself and with the world, you always did what made you happy. And even though mom didn't always approve of that, we're glad now that you lived your life in the moment because it all ended too soon for you, too soon for us.

I dont know if you knew it or not, but I was so proud of you and so proud to call you my Mikey. Everytime you hugged me, I would hope people saw it and that they would see how lucky I was to have the most bad brother around and that he loved me as much as you did. I never said it, but you gave the most awesome big brother hugs and everytime you picked my feet up off the floor, I felt like a little sister, and I want to thank you. I want to thank you for so many things. For being such a good, loyal, protective big brother, and for the strength you're creating in our family right now. Thank you for spreading light the way that you did in all of your friends and family.

But I need to apologize too. I want to say that I'm sorry not only for our loss, but for yours. I know that you are looking over us now and that you've reached your eternity but I'm sorry that there is and was so much more you could've experienced and that those opportunities are going to outlive you. You would have done so much more greatness in your life, and you will do even more in our heaven. I'm sorry Mikey, that I was not there for you in your last moments of life. I know you were strong, but I know you were probably scared. And I wish that even though I couldn't have saved your life that I could have held your hand while you escaped this earth. Just to tell you that it was going to be ok and that we love you. So I'm telling you now, that it is going to be ok, for you, for us. Because we are receiving the strength that you're sending us through the sunrise and the sunset and the wind and the rain. And I am forever holding your hand and holding you in my heart. You have not left your legacy behind, but you have created one in the bonds of your friends and family and Michael, we will never forget. We will never stop loving you. And thank you. Thank you for taking away my fear of death, my fear that life could not possible last long enough. Because although I love my life on earth and cherish the time that I have with my son, my heart can't be whole again until you've opened the gates for me and I can hug you again. We love you Mikey.

My condolences go out to Mike’s family and everyone who was a friend to him. My time spent with him was at a time he was having difficulties and looking for the direction to take in his life. I didn’t spend much time with him after that as he went forward into his own future, but it is heartening to know that he did so with a much more positive outlook. This is borne out by the great number of friends he made and his positive impact on them. Mike’s trademark smile was an open door for everyone to walk through. Even his eyes smiled. I am glad that this good soul was my friend.

Mike’s life was too short, but, all lives are. His leaves us with the message that life’s time is so special that we dare not squander it. Live it with enthusiasm, joy and love. Mike wouldn’t want us to live our own lives any other way.

My Sweet boy...Michael. I am not able to say any kind of good-bye to you my first born son. Only...so long for awhile. I am so looking forward to putting my arms around you again. I always worried about you so darn much...you are definitely my wildest child!! I am not worrying about you anymore. Until we meet again my Michael Scott...I love you with all my mind, heart and soul.

About 3 weeks ago (before I heard about the accident) I was telling my new husband the part about my childhood that included Michael living with us. I was an only child who had a new 'brother', although technically he was my nephew. It made things really fun! Playing with each other, pretending to drive the van to exotic locations, holidays and birthday, camping...we had a few years of childhood memories together. I'm glad that Michael was special enough that I was telling someone about him because I wanted to, and not because this tragedy brought him up. May we never forget Michael, and others that have helped shape all of our lives.

Jackie,Staci, and family
Just want you to know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers. Mike was very special to us and it is hard realize he will never walk through our door again. I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose a son or brother. I know for me the pain would be unbearable. I hope as time goes by we will only think of the good and happy times we all spent with Mike. All of the "If onlys" hold our pain close. We will always miss him. Take care of yourselves and know that you are always on our minds.

Mike, I remember the very first day I saw him, he was at Kirks and I said to Logan, who's that he is a cutie! I would see him at dunks every morning and just like everyone says he has one in a million smile. I realized that I was friends with his mom shortly after meeting him. Her family has been a huge help to me and my daughter. All my love. You always think you have so much time. I was gonna call Mike and always thought some other time. He will be missed by so many. PEACE HOMIE

To a wonderful family;
I have so many fond memories of us all at “play ground”. Jackie was his baby and he always made sure she was safe from other boys and he knew where she was always.

He did love animals very much!! He was at my mother’s house and loved on the cat till she was drooling all over. Just loved to seen him man melt over the cat.. Big softy.

I’m still in shock; I really can’t believe I won’t be seeing him at the class reunion, He was a child hood friend with tons of shared summers, school time, Aryn, trips, countless and priceless’ memories. I will have you and your family in my heart.

Dear Staci and family

I did not know your son, but the words of love used by all those who knew Michael to describe him tell me of his goodness, of his unique ability to touch the lives of others. You have given him that capacity to love with all his heart.

There can be no words to diminish your grief, but in knowing that his life lives on in the way his family and friends were touched by his presence may give you some comfort.

With love and sorrow--Mary

Dearest Mike
It broke my heart to say good bye to you. Many years ago you came to us at a cross road in your life and we took you in. You stayed with us for many months and were like a foster son to us and we loved you. You were an intricate part of our family. You attended our family holiday get togethers, picnics, parties, and anything we could do to bring everyone together. Erich knows how much I always worried about you. He always loved to surprise me when you visited. He knew it was a big deal for me to know you were okay. The last time you were here a bunch of the guys were in the kitchen laughing and telling stories. I walked in and just by the look on Erich's face I knew something was up. I came around the corner and there you were with that bright smile. It lit me up and I couldn't hug you enough. God bless you and may you rest in eternal peace
You will always be a part of us and in my heart.
Love forever Mom Lynch

To those who loved Michael, there are no words to sooth your pain or your sense of loss. Only the passing of time and the support of family and friends can help to make things more bearable.

While I never knew Michael, he was a friend and co-worker of my son Jesse, that alone tells me Michael was a very special person.

There is now another Angel whose name we know, watching from Heaven.

Prayers go especially to those who loved and will miss Michael.

Mike was a wonderful person and a great friend. We were very close to Mike especially in this past year, it is so hard to believe he is gone.

Mike loved life, loved dogs, loved movies, loved to help people, and loved to make people laugh. He had a great heart and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a hard worker and put 100% into everything he did. We could always count on Mike's help.

There are no words to express the pain of knowing Mike is gone. Our thoughts are with his family and many, many friends.
