Normand Paradis Obituary

Montville - Normand Joseph Paradis, 85, of Montville died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023. He was born in Montville Dec. 20, 1937, to the late Arthur Eli and Eliza Pachiodo Paradis.

Normand married the love of his life MaryJane Thibault in June 1960 at Saint Anne Church in Fall River, Mass. They were married for 63 years, she survives him.

In addition to his wife, Normand is survived by his sister Elizabeth Henseler; and his six children, Theresa (Jeffrey) LeDuc of Canton, Amanda (David) Getty of Uncasville, Bernadette (Joseph) Siefker of Grafton, Ohio, Catherine (Craig) Martise of Riverside, Colette (Glen) Ladd of Bozrah and Thomas N. Paradis of Montville; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother Arthur W. Paradis; and sister Loraine Sistare.

Normand graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1955 with a diploma in Industrial Arts. Like most young men in Montville at the time, he joined the Army and served for six years with the Connecticut National Guard. He was a warehouse manager for Grants for 25 years and was a die maker/foreman for most of his life at various box companies; Robert Gair, Atlantic Packaging and Mead West Vaco. With MaryJane, he owned MaryJane's Window Boutique, they sold and installed custom draperies for 20 years. They also owned and ran The "New" Corners Edge for 11 years until retirement.

Upon retirement Normand had more time to do things he enjoyed with MaryJane such as relaxing on a beach, vacationing at Poland Springs in Maine, visiting National Parks, ballroom dancing, bowling, going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and most of all spending time with his family.

Normand was a lifelong communicant of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Uncasville. He was a member of the New London Elks Lodge #360 and the Polish American Club in Uncasville for many years.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 22 Maple Ave., Montville, Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery Montville.

I remember Normand and the rest of the Paradis family when we were young kids on Gay (Pie) Hill in Palmertown. We had an amazing childhood. Peace be with him.
