Niantic - Ronald Alexander Rymash, 91, of Niantic, passed away peacefully at his residence July 22, 2025. He was born Sept. 3, 1933, in New London, the son of Alexander and Stella (Woroby) Rymash.

Ronald graduated from New London High School in 1951, and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut. He proudly served his country as an interrogation officer in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of second lieutenant.

His educational career began as a teacher at Quaker Hill Elementary School and Clarke Lane Middle School. In 1968, he became principal of North Stonington Elementary School, where he served with dedication, warmth and vision until his retirement in 1993. Over his 25 years as principal, Ronald touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy in the community.

He was a member of the New London Lodge of Elks for 56 years and was a member of the Southeastern Connecticut Lobsterman Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Jean (Naccarato) Rymash; his two daughters, Robin Brown and Tamara Carey; his grandchildren, CJ Brown and Allie; his stepson John Richeson; John's daughter Olivia and her children, Riley and AJ. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Rymash; and his sister Mary Dart.

Ron was first a travel companion up to Nova Scocia and then a friend to both my husband, Rich and me. We saw him at the gym regularly or the Physical Therapy Clinic most recently. His warm conversations and insightful comments were always encouraging. He lit up the room wherever he was. He was a good man and blessed to call him friend.
