Rose Baker Obituary
Rose was born in Groton, on May 6, 1917, the daughter of Alphonse and Emma (Perlatti) Scarano. Rose was married to Russell L. Baker Sr., on Aug. 31, 1940, in Groton. Russell passed away Nov. 11, 1987.
Rose had worked as a private secretary at the former Max Pollack Mill in Groton. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, had been active with the Republican Party, the Shennecossett Yacht Club, the former Groton Public Health Nursing Service and the Groton Visiting Nurse Association.
Rose is survived by a son, Russell L. "Rusty" Baker; and a daughter, Barbara Acker, both of Groton; a sister, Emily Petrosky of North Carolina; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Alphonse B. and Gerard J. Scarano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton.
