Scott Choisy Obituary

East Lyme - Scott D. Choisy, 59, died unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep, Monday, July 23, 2018.

The son of George and Beverly Choisy, he grew up in Niantic, where he also raised his own children. Although a lifetime resident of the shoreline town, as an expert airplane mechanic, he traveled the world inspecting planes on behalf of aircraft purchasers and collectors. Wherever he went, he was quick to make friends with his charm and sense of humor.

He is survived by his siblings, Corey Choisy of Suisun, Calif., Robin Wilkerson of Old Lyme and Janine Allen and her husband, Ronald, of Canterbury. Scott is being mourned by his children, daughter, Brianna Appleton and her husband, Keith, of Colchester, elder son, Erik Choisy and partner, Vanessa Peña, of Ann Arbor, Mich. and younger son, Kyle Choisy and wife, Jill, of Old Lyme. As a grandfather, Papa Scott will forever be in the memories of his grandsons, Tyler, Bradley and Logan Appleton.

His family invites all who would like to remember Scott to visiting hours from 12 to 3 p.m. this Saturday, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. www.neilanfuneralhome.com.

I am very sorry to hear of Scott's passing. Too young, too soon. I remember him as Corey's little brother in HS and band. A very sweet young man from a lovely family.

This is a guy who could always brighten up your day. Always ran into him at the Niantic light parade and we would share some great memories of how we were so fortunate to grow up in Niantic. I will never forget the day we ran over Mrs. Kellys beloved Azaleas with our snow sleds.Rest in peace Scott.

Scott was a wonderful neighbor for over 50 years.
He had an accepting and open mind and he was truly mechanically gifted and charming. I remember him and has brother and sisters when they were young children.
My mother, "Granny Ruth" always enjoyed seeing him, even when she was over 100 y/o, and he mentioned recently that he always especially liked her.
The name, Choisy, means "chosen" (choisie fr.)
Au revoir, mon cher ami, jusq'au jour quand
nous nous rencontrons encore!
(Good-bye my dear friend until we meet again!)

It was always good to run into Scott whenever I passed through the old alma mater town. There was always the same charm and humor. Thinking back to the old school days, everybody liked Scott.

What will I miss about Scott?, "Everything" He was always fun to be around & whenever I bumped into him, I always new we would have a good, fun conversation. I remember going over to his house for Cub Scouts, his Mom was our Den Leader & making crafts in their basement. We both graduated from East Lyme High School in 1977. After that, I would bump into him maybe once a year. We would always have time to talk to each other. Rest in Peace my friend.
