Sean Kerr Gallimore

1965 - 2021

Norwich - Sean Kerr Gallimore, 56, of Norwich passed away unexpectedly Oct. 20, 2021. He was the pillar of lifelong health and physical fitness, and his untimely death has shocked his family and all that knew him.

He was born Aug. 21, 1965, in Groton, the youngest son of Jack and Alice Gallimore of Ledyard. He grew up and lived in Ledyard, attended Ledyard High School, and graduated in 1983. Sean received a BFA in Illustration at Paier College of Art in 1988 and moved to LA County, Calif. to pursue his 'California Dream'.

Sean rapidly became an established fine artist and animator, eventually securing an active position with Walt Disney Feature Animation, and his work appeared in numerous feature films thru the 1990s and early 2000s. He also became enamored with all aspects of filmmaking and would venture into that field as well.

His other lifelong passions were bodybuilding and martial arts, achieving black belts in a number of styles and disciplines, constantly training and becoming a certified instructor himself.

He married Susan Butkiewicz in 1991, and they had two sons, Shane Hampton in 1995 and Jefferson Jack in 1997. They were married for 23 years.

After 14 years, Sean determined to return back to Connecticut to pursue his ambitions while being closer to his extended family. It was here, ironically, where he continued in art, martial arts and filmmaking, culminating in the production of 'Fight Ring' in 2008, his magnum opus, which saw him write, direct, edit, produce and star in a full-length film. In the last decade, he continued to work on, act in, choreograph and stay actively involved with a number of local film companies and productions. As technology advanced, he commenced to master CGI and continued with all efforts possible in cinematic and graphic arts, working on numerous projects at every moment.

He met his new love, Debra Jans, and they married in 2019. She became his newfound inspiration, muse and collaborator and they were inseparable.

Behind his physical façade, Sean had the most disciplined work ethic, the kindest, most giving heart, an introspective soul and an often silent, humble, calm but determined demeanor. He had a great fondness for vintage TV, movies and music, anything and everything movie special FX, superheroes, comics, and action figure collectibles, and enjoyed the adventure of life to the fullest.

In addition to his wife and two sons, Sean leaves behind his parents; his brother Tim and wife Holly of Sprague; his sister Diana "Dee" Gallimore-Perry and her husband Rob Perry of Griswold; numerous cousins, two grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, his extended family of former in-laws, and friends, associates, students and a legion of people who were touched by his love, kindness, giving, talents and character. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him most.

Arrangements to be determined by family. There will be a celebration of his life in the near future.
