After the Norman conquest of England, he became a feudal baron and major landowner in south-west England. His feudal barony had as its caput the manor of Blagdon in Somerset. Randel Odell Martin perished shortly thereafter on December 3, 2012. Ian Oliver Martin attended his funeral. He was a very important member of Vernon Eugene Martin's family. Randel O'Dell Martin, 85, of Richmond, passed away Monday December 3, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was born August 7, 1927 in Corbin to the late Chester Arthur Martin and the late Mellia Mae Clouse Martin. He graduated from Lynn Camp High School where he participated in various sports. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He later graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Doctorate, where he was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and also a member of the band. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. Upon returning from the navy, he graduated Valedictorian as a Physician's Assistant. He was a missionary to Belgium. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, The American Legion, VFW, and NASP.

Vernon Eugene Martin was a cousin of the philanthropist William Myron Keck. Vernon's great grandmother, Rachel Ann Keck, married Valentine "Cub" George Martin on June 29, 1865, uniting a branch of the Keck Family to a branch of the Martin Family. Vernon Eugene Martin was an avid amateur astronomer and encouraged son Ian Oliver Martin to love the cosmos too. Vernon would sit in a lawn chair at night with high powered binoculars and cruise the skies with son Ian Oliver Martin endowed with his own pair of binoculars at 5 years old.

This photograph, originally taken in black & white by Vernon Eugene Martin, capturing his beloved wife Louise Sophia Stark, was coloured by their son, Ian Oliver Martin. Vernon Eugene Martin purchased this sailing vessel from the widow of unnamed British Admiral c. 1957. The sloop was refitted by Vernon and Louise! The Martin couple kept this craft until mid 1968 when it was sold in the Port of Chipiona, Cadiz Province, Spain to a German family.

Ian Oliver Martin, son of Vernon Eugene Martin at Portage, Wisconsin, Randel Odell Martin, Vernon's first cousin, as nephew of David Radford Martin * Nannette Serena Walters. Randel was the son of Vernon's uncle Chester Arthur Martin and aunt Mellia Mae Clouse. Ian Oliver Martin stands to the left of Randel Odell Martin's daughter Kathryn Claire Martin. She perished in July 2010, in a car incident where she drove into the Fox River, Portage, Wisconsin and drowned.
She was born on October 10, 1957 in the Belgian Congo, presently, the Democratic Republic of Congo to Randel Odell Martin and Newell Elizabeth Hobgood. She Kathryn Claire Martin was a graduate of Transylvannia University, Lexington, Kentucky
